ABOUT TEGUH
A Practice Built Around
What Compliance Teams Actually Need
Teguh was founded to serve one constituency: Malaysian banking compliance officers who need thoughtful, bounded AI support — not broad automation promises.

Why Teguh Exists
Teguh began with a straightforward observation: Malaysian banking compliance teams are carrying a heavy reading load. Policy libraries expand, AMLA and BAFIA obligations evolve, BNM issues updated guidance, and RMiT requirements add technology-specific accountability. Analysts spend hours each week reading documents rather than reasoning about them.
We were not the first to notice this. But the responses we saw — large-scale AI deployments, vendor promises of fully automated compliance monitoring — seemed to misread what compliance leaders actually wanted. Most were not looking for a system that decided things for them. They wanted a careful first reader who could reduce the volume before it reached a qualified human eye.
Teguh was formed in Kuala Lumpur to offer exactly that kind of engagement: scoped, measured, and built around the principle that AI assists should sit between the document pile and the analyst's desk — never between the analyst and the compliance decision.
Our engagements are designed to be accountable. Every piece of work produces a written deliverable. Every pilot operates in a closed, read-only environment. Every brief is written for the compliance committee, not the technology team.
OUR MISSION
Help compliance teams carry less, decide better.
We reduce document reading load through AI assists that are bounded, auditable, and always subject to human analyst confirmation.
OUR APPROACH
Advisory first, technology second.
We read your current workflow before recommending any AI assist. The brief we produce often matters more than the software we deploy.
OUR CONTEXT
Built for Malaysia's regulatory environment.
BNM guidelines, AMLA obligations, BAFIA provisions, RMiT, and PDPA inform every engagement from the first meeting onwards.

HOW WE WORK
Standards We Hold to
These are not aspirational statements. They are the operating conditions for every Teguh engagement.
Written Deliverables Only
Every engagement concludes with a written brief. No verbal recommendations. Deliverables are formatted for compliance committee review and audit records.
Data Access Agreements
Before viewing any case file or policy document, a formal data access agreement is signed, specifying what may be read, by whom, and under what conditions.
Read-Only AI Configuration
Pilot AI assists operate in read-only mode within your institution's infrastructure. No data is extracted, transmitted, or stored outside your environment.
Analyst Training Included
Pilot engagements include structured training covering AI output interpretation, known limitations, and escalation protocols for your compliance function.
Regulatory Alignment
All work references BNM guidelines, AMLA, BAFIA, RMiT, and PDPA. We do not proceed with a recommendation that we cannot trace to a regulatory basis.
Confidentiality by Default
All client information is held in strict confidence. We do not reference client names, case details, or institutional arrangements in any external communications.
OUR EXPERTISE
AI Compliance Advisory in the Malaysian Banking Sector
Malaysian banking compliance sits at the intersection of several demanding frameworks. The Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act (AMLA) imposes specific obligations on financial institutions regarding customer due diligence and suspicious transaction reporting. The Banking and Financial Institutions Act (BAFIA) governs the conduct of licensed institutions. Bank Negara Malaysia's Risk Management in Technology (RMiT) policy addresses how financial institutions should manage technology risks, including the introduction of AI-assisted processes.
The Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA) adds an additional layer of obligation wherever customer data is handled. Taken together, these frameworks create a dense reading environment for compliance officers — one where missing a cross-reference or failing to notice a BNM circular update can carry real institutional consequences.
Teguh's advisory practice is built around this specific context. Our compliance workflow reviews begin with a reading of your existing policy library alongside current regulatory texts, and our written briefs are structured to sit alongside your institution's internal compliance documentation. We are not a software vendor offering an off-the-shelf product. We are an advisory practice that reads carefully, writes clearly, and works within the bounds that responsible compliance support requires.
For teams that have already begun using AI reading tools, our Quarterly Compliance Stewardship service provides ongoing oversight — sampling outputs, auditing the boundaries of AI involvement, and writing committee-ready briefs that document the human review process. For teams exploring whether AI assistance is appropriate at all, our Compliance Workflow Review offers a grounded starting point that does not presuppose an answer.
